Job Scheduling question

Greetings to all,

I have tried posting this question on

different boards to try finding somebody that might have had an experience..

My company is currently looking for a

Jobscheduler. There are some on the market that we are evaluating, however quite expensive and require you to purchase

specific DB; are not integrated into SAP, etc.

Apart from other offers, we've come accross this German Jobscheduler

called BatchMan (www.honico.com) Anybody had any experience with them?

How Google's Technology could possibly Change SAP BI

Query Execution and Efficiency is a major concern in organizations

with large amounts of data! SAP has come out with a Business Intelligence Accelerator (BIA) tool that does a good job.. but

Google's technique and architecture is still the best!
Here is what Naeem Hashmi

says about BIA:

Internal vs External Numbering Ranges

Hi guys,

Having worked in SAP

for over 10 years, I have usually recommended internal numbering ranges to my customers as much as was possible. However, I

currently have a customer that is bent upon using external numbering ranges for its material master records.

Can you

guys provide me with your thoughts on the pros/cons of using Internal versus External numbering scheme for material masters?

Finance Process: Outsourcing vs SHared Services

Despite the conventional wisdom about outsourcing of processes, here is some Best

Practices reality check from the Best Practices Big Daddy The Hackett Group on where the direction for Finance Processes is

headed to.. its the Shared Services that clients feel most comfortable about while outsourcing. Currently the onshore Shared

Services are ruling the roost but this trend will change soon to the offshore Shared Services Centers as the demand and

maturity grows!

Is Oracle here to stay or is it over for it?

Ok, finally it seems that

there might be a ray of hope for Oracle if it shows some positive trends in its earnings as this article says:

Oracle is expected to show a return to underlying growth in its applications software business when it

reports its earnings on Monday, ending a troubled period that followed its contested takeover of PeopleSoft.

BI Tool Selection Process

Here are some best practices for BI Tool selection. These are good pointers

here from Tim Furey - however, he has analyzed this important decision

from the BI silo only! In my view, that is a major problem with most of the decision making that goes

about in the industry today! BI is the HOTbed on which most of the future applications (assuming the company is still

running with OLTP but not much of OLAP environment in place).Â

Cost to Complexity and Single ERP systems

I have seen many

clients keep pondering on the question of SAP products for Performance Management vs Hyperion.. and wasting time! Here is a

very useful research insight from the Best Practices Gurus at Hackett Group! There is a cost to

complexity - the sooner the executives who are taking such decisions realize the better it will be for

everyone!

Shared Services in Public Sector: Research Paper

Came across a useful research paper on

target="_blank">Shared Services in Public Sector and want to share this with other friends in the SAP world!

Relations with government workers are clearly constrained by a framework of

laws and regulations. Just as important, if less explicit, is the central premise of public-sector employment, which is job

security or even, in some organizations, job entitlement.
